No matter what time of year you choose to visit, you will love Australia's Murray River region for its regular events and festivals celebrating fine wine, food, art, music, sport and culture.

Visit during June to marvel at a breathtaking sky of colour at the World Hot Air Ballooning Championship.

Sample some of the region's best food and wine while you sit on the banks of the Murray River and enjoy the music at the River Boats Jazz, Food and Wine Festival in February.

Also in February is the must-see annual sporting event of the year, the Club Marine Southern 80, the largest water skiing race in the world.

If you love water sports, you will also enjoy the Murray marathon in December, an annual 404 km canoeing race that runs between Yarrawonga and Swan Hill.

The Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival is the place to be during March and August if you love poetry, theatre, music, art and dance.

During November, Mildura also hosts the Mildura Jazz and Wine Festival for lovers of modern and traditional jazz music. You may even try a drop of white or red while you float along lazily on the deck of a riverboat, or your own privately chartered Murray River houseboat.

Head on up from Melbourne to the historic township of Albury Wodonga in October for the three day Albury Wodonga region Wine and Food Festival and enjoy the Producers' Picnic on the banks of the Murray River.
